OUR COMMITMENT
IDS Solutions, LLC is committed to making its software and digital resources usable by the broadest practical range of users, including individuals with disabilities.
We recognize the importance of accessibility and are reviewing the IDScience Application against applicable accessibility standards, including the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.1 Level AA.
IDSCIENCE APPLICATION
The IDScience Application is a Microsoft Windows desktop application used by trained personnel to assist with the authentication of government-issued identity documents.
The application is commonly deployed on Microsoft Surface Pro tablets and is designed primarily for touchscreen operation. Depending on the deployment configuration, it may also be operated using a keyboard and mouse.
Current accessibility-related features include:
- Touch-based operation using direct tapping and selection
- Keyboard and mouse support
- Standard Microsoft Windows controls and menus where practical
- Compatibility with Windows display scaling
- Built-in image zoom controls
- Optional audible notifications that may be enabled or disabled
- Authentication results communicated using text and graphical symbols, rather than color alone
- Support for common Windows input methods
SPECIALIZED OPERATIONAL FUNCTIONS
The IDScience Application is used with dedicated document authentication hardware. Certain functions are inherent to the physical identity-authentication process and may require trained personnel to:
- Insert and position a physical identity document
- Review visible, ultraviolet, and infrared document images
- Inspect document security features
- Compare the document photograph with the individual presenting the credential
- Review authentication findings presented by the application
These physical and visual responsibilities are distinct from the accessibility of the software user interface.
ACCESSIBILITY CONFORMANCE REPORT
IDS Solutions provides an Accessibility Conformance Report based on the VPAT® 2.5 format and WCAG 2.1 Level AA. The report documents the current accessibility characteristics of the IDScience Application, including supported accessibility features, areas requiring additional evaluation, and our ongoing accessibility improvement roadmap.

ONGOING IMPROVEMENT
Accessibility is an ongoing process. IDS Solutions will continue to evaluate the IDScience Application and supporting documentation as the product evolves.
Areas under continued review include:
- Assistive-technology and screen-reader behavior
- Keyboard focus and navigation
- High-contrast compatibility
- Text and display scaling
- Touch-target usability
- Accessible labels for interface controls
- User documentation and operator instructions
Feedback from customers and users may be considered as part of future software improvements.
