From IDScience to IDS-Solutions
Originally founded as IDScience, our team focused on advanced document analysis for law enforcement and hospitality environments. In 2024, IDScience merged with IDS-Solutions, combining hardware engineering and forensic software expertise into one brand.

2009 The Beginning
A 15-year legacy of innovation
In the fall of 2009, Brandon Currul partnered with MIT’s Dr. Ted Kuklinski to create the world’s first commercial on-premise forensic ID authentication software.
Using dual-side image capture under three light sources and a risk-weighted algorithm of 30+ forensic tests, Advanced ID Detection was born in Medway, MA — setting a new benchmark for document security.
2012 Expanded
Expanding with facial match & mobile innovation
By 2012, the team expanded the platform through a collaboration with Animetrics (NH), pioneering facial-match technology that enabled live-image comparison — now a standard across the industry.
That same year, they launched the first digital ID guide for iPhone and co-founded MIDENT with the founders of Drizly, enabling the first legal mobile ID authentication for alcohol delivery in the U.S.
2015 Expanded
Confirm.Io & mobile identity breakthroughs
In 2015, Currul co-founded Confirm.io, securing a $4 million seed round and acquiring Advanced ID Detection. The team advanced mobile identity verification with liveness detection and powered onboarding for major platforms like DoorDash and other gig-economy pioneers.

Facebook acquisition
Facebook’s acquisition of Confirm.io in 2018 brought these innovations to a global scale, revolutionizing how digital platforms verified identity. Yet, it left a gap for enterprise and on-premise customers — leading Currul to establish IDScience to continue serving regulated markets directly.

The IDS6000 and ARIA readers go far beyond barcode scanning. Every scan runs through UV, infrared, and white light simultaneously, cross-checks the printed data against the barcode data, validates the document layout against official state and government templates, and calculates a risk score in 4-6 seconds. The result is a clear green check or red flag, and no guesswork for your staff.
Yes. Most fake IDs fail because counterfeiters cannot replicate the exact font spacing, field positioning, and UV/IR security features of real government-issued documents. Our software cross-matches printed data against encoded barcode data, flags any mismatch, and validates the document layout against a database of official templates. Altered IDs (where real data has been physically changed) are also flagged through this same layer of structural analysis.
Yes. We offer a full POS integration package starting at $599 and non-interest payments that connects the ID scanner and software directly into your existing point-of-sale workflow. No separate tablet or stand required. Your staff scans the ID and the verification result appears inside the POS screen they already use. We support integration with major retail and hospitality POS systems.
The IDS6000 reads all U.S. driver's licenses, state-issued ID cards and International ID's. Our upcoming ARIA reader — launching Q3 2026 — is a single device that scans both driver's licenses and passports in one pass, including international IDs, making it ideal for hotels, casinos, and airports where both document types are common.
IDS systems are deployed in liquor stores, bars and nightclubs, casinos, hotels and hospitality venues, cannabis dispensaries, car dealerships, and government and law enforcement environments. Our systems have also been used to train police departments on forensic ID verification.
Every scan is encrypted and stored locally for 30 days, then automatically and permanently deleted. We do not send scan data to external servers unless you are using an online-connected configuration, in which case all transmissions are encrypted. The 30-day audit log exists specifically to protect your business during liquor board inspections, law enforcement incidents, or internal investigations, giving you documented proof of due diligence for every ID checked.
